Arne Slot acknowledged that it's expected for questions to be raised about his position following a further convincing loss against PSV Eindhoven.
The Reds endured their ninth loss in twelve games, marking the team's worst streak since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.
They were outplayed by the Dutch league champions on a difficult night at Anfield.
“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I've received significant backing from above,” Slot commented.
“It would be nice to reverse this trend and earn three points obviously but when you're in a managerial role and not doing well then it is normal that people question you.”
He continued, “I am OK with my role. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a tough spot but it is about time that we turned it around.”
When asked to expand on his conversations with the team officials, the head coach said:
“We talk a lot. They assist to the team and for me and those talks happen but they don't phone me all the time of the day to say they trust me.”
He mentioned, “Through standard discussions I sense the trust. However I haven’t spoken to them since this game yet so let’s see.”
The manager expressed regret over known weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, namely poor finishing and defensive lapses.
Meanwhile, player Jones was more direct in his view of the club’s predicament.
“I haven't got the solutions. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to all,” Jones said.
“It is not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to reflect. I'm beyond being angry internally. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the phrases.”
He continued, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the club I love. I’m a fan, and I've watched Liverpool all my life.”
“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team going through a spell of this nature with results this poor.”
He stated, “But we still have the emblem on our shirts. And as long as it is taken away, we'll continue to battle.”
“We’re going to try to get this team return to its rightful place, show everyone once more the values of this club and the reason it's called the top club in the world.”
“However currently, we're in trouble and it must improve.”
