Rob Edwards and O'Neil are two of the early candidates under consideration to succeed the former manager as head coach of Wolves.

Pereira was sacked on the weekend after the team's 10-match without a victory beginning to the Premier League campaign.

Furthermore Edwards and O'Neil - each of whom have previous associations to the team - are part of the names to be evaluated by the Wolves leadership.

Edwards is currently at another club, which would create a potential hurdle to his hiring at Wolves' stadium.

Nevertheless the former Luton Town head coach - who made over a century of games for Wolves during his playing career - is said to be a strong candidate for the vacancy.

The 42-year-old is said to have support from the club board as they start the search of appointing a fresh manager.

O'Neil is additionally appearing as a surprise contender, although he would be a surprising appointment considering he was released by Wolves in the previous winter.

The ex- West Ham United midfielder is currently unemployed which means Wolves would not be required to pay any compensation.
