Nigel Farage Accuses Teachers of ‘Indoctrinating Children’ on Racial Topics

The political figure stated that educators would initiate walkouts within weeks a success at the polls for his party, accusing them of “poisoning our kids” by instructing children that black pupils are victims and white children oppressors.

At a gathering for a Michigan-based religious institution, the politician expressed his perspective on British schools, stating that the “radical left-wing” had “now in control of our education system”.

“I expect a walkout by educators very quickly after securing a victory,” he remarked during a Q&A session.

“They are corrupting young minds. They instruct children to feel guilt about their nation. They are telling little Johnny, who’s eight, who is black that he is oppressed and a white child of the same age that he is an oppressor. They create division, instead of fostering unity. They are feeding this harmful mindset.”

Reacting to Farage’s claims, Daniel Kebede dismissed the idea that the schools were under Marxist influence as “nonsense”. He pointed out that industrial action must relate to educators’ working conditions, and doubted whether Reform would attack these right after taking office.

“Farage has built his public life on coded rhetoric and now, similar to other figures, he is lining up teachers and their unions for a fight,” Kebede stated.

“This is highly reckless. I don’t – and nor does my union – push critical race theory as he claims … If he were to lead the government he would sell out our public services, including education … and the outcome would be catastrophic for students and learning.”

The party, which is leading the polls by about 10 points, has not set out much detail on a proposed education policy and seems not to have appointed an education spokesperson.

Nonetheless, his comments indicated the party would overhaul the system and the curriculum. Farage declared: “We have got a massive job with schooling – absolutely herculean. Moreover, it won’t happen quickly; it will take us years, years to turn this around.”

Farage expressed that younger generations are receptive to critical thinking, but older youth were “completely lost”.

Paying tribute to a conservative activist, he commented: “All I want education to do to teach critical thinking – to educate individuals that there are two points of view and they should decide for themselves as opposed to current practices where views are labeled good or bad. This is a huge undertaking in both Britain and America.”

Reform has previously clashed with the UK’s largest teaching union, after Kebede called the party “extremist and prejudiced” and dismissed Farage as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.

The politician has charged the union head with being “an avowed radical” … someone who is absolutely determined that our children should be poisoned at school, their minds should be poisoned regarding national issues” and maintained that the union is trying to indoctrinate youth opposed to his party.

Roughly a million individuals work in schools in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The leading teachers’ organization has about 450,000 members.

National strikes over teacher pay and conditions in 2023 led to significant interruptions in schools and extensive missed instruction for children.

At the US event, the Reform leader also vowed to promote the digital courses of the institution in the UK. He stated organizations like it were “key to resistance”, adding that: “I am serious. I will help garner hundreds of thousands, if not millions of youth to these educational programs. I pledge this now and I’ll do that.”

The institution, a religious educational establishment, offers free courses. According to its online description: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is vital for well-being and to perpetuate the blessings of freedom. The college furnishes these beautiful courses for free to every interested learner.”
