Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Manama, as the country executed missile attacks throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a "massive" and ongoing offensive against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone close to the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any damage is not yet known and the United States has not commented.
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - all home to American military installations - said they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their air space.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on Iran carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on sites associated with the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump urging the people of Iran to rise up against the regime.
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates announced that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a number of missiles," it added.
It said missile fragments landed in a populated district in Abu Dhabi, causing some material damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
